This is Visitor Rebuilt's EP. The front is gouache, colored pencil, ink, & digital.

Chemistry Book

I love working in the chemistry department and being surrounded by ridiculously smart people. A while ago, a chemist in the department needed a cover for his book; just something to send to publishers so they knew what he had in mind, and then they could have their artists make the real thing. He knew exactly what he wanted but couldn't navigate around photoshop, so I stepped in and helped him out (this is exactly what an illustrator does, right? We climb inside your head and pull the image out and put it in front of you). What do you know, the publishers went with my design and the book is now in print!

(sorry this is all one link, but I had to break it in the middle because blogger kept cutting it off)

If you click "google preview" you can see scroll to the first page and see my name.

Figuring Out How Color Works

Tonight in class I had an epic bloody battle with color. There were many casualties. But in the end I learned one important thing: COLOR

And it must be defeated. Oil paint is my weapon and the battle will go until December.

Morning Sketch

This semester I managed to sneak into the Freshman "Drawing and Painting for the Theater" class, much like a ninja. This morning we sketched by Mirror Lake for a little while. This is charcoal on 9"x12" (I think) paper.

Monochromatic Figure Study

I'm taking figure painting this semester with Blake. This is the result from the first class: a value study.
Oil: Raw Umber and titanium white
11"x14" canvas board
The goal is to get a billion times better than this by the end of the semester.
