The Waiting Room

I comfort myself by drawing.
I spent last summer with my family in a variety of medical waiting rooms.  The first waiting room was part of the Cardiac ICU.  All around me, families sat with anxiety as they waited for their turn to come so they could spend their allotted 10 minutes per hour staring at their parent/spouse/sibling laying in a bed looking completely lifeless.
We all sat waiting to hear whether our loved one was going to make it.  I listened to a family counselor explain to a family that the doctors did all they could, and that he was very sorry.
Here are a few of the things I poured into my sketchbook that first week.

Happy Birthday Sam!

A little over a week ago one of my best friends turned 20 so I made her this birthday card.  It doesn't say anything about birthdays and it's not actually a card.  But it's made with love so that makes it okay.

Eli, eli, lema sabachthani?

This was the first piece from my Senior Project to be eliminated before it was finished.
That was hard.  I really wanted to make this one work.  But I'm an adult so I will get over it.

CT Middle School Science Bowl 2011

I designed another t-shirt.  Anybody remember the CT Middle School Science Bowl shirt I designed last year?  Well here is the latest and greatest.

*Normally I try to keep this blog semi kind of sort of professional but I would like to take this moment to say, "OH MY GOODNESS I LOVE SEEING MY DRAWINGS GO, VECTOR FOR VECTOR, ALL OVER PEOPLE'S TORSOS! I CAN'T BELIEVE SOMEONE PAYS ME TO DO THIS"*
Glad I got that out of my system.
